The Initiative is largely dependent on funding from Dumfries & Galloway Council to maintain its services. Our Area Committee has reduced the maximum sum available for 2017/18, from the £50,000 needed, to £20,000. The grant provided for 2016/17 leaves a shortfall of £16,000; in 2017/18 the anticipated shortfall could be as much as £36,000. This threatens the future of ATI. We would urge you to support the necessary funding for community transport services by Dumfries & Galloway Council in 2017/18 by signing the petition.

im spending my time talking to the council reps about how this budget cut will actually hurt real people in our community. reading all your stories in the comments keeps me going when the meetings get frustrating. i dont think they realize how much we rely on these buses.

i honestly never thought we would see this much support so fast. its clear that everyone realizes how much this service matters for our community and seeing this momentum is just incredible.

Ask the council to take a look at there pool car system they certainly dont need them all as some of them never move week to week this would free up money for mimibus .
The hire of the ATI bus enables the Annan Walking Group to travel as a group to the starting points on their twice monthly walks thereby saving fuel, being more environmentally friendly and fostering togetherness. In addition most of the walkers are retired and many do not drive.
This service has been a lifeline to me since my husband died. Thanks to the volunteer drivers and dedicated staff, I can get out and about on interesting day trips. They really do keep me going
The buses are often used to transport those with disabilities to events they otherwise wouldn't get to. I have 2 sons who have disabilities and I know the loss of this service would impact on them.
Without the services of ATI, clients attending Compass in Dumfries (formerly Headway D&G) would not have been able to attend the rehab centre for their slow stream rehab following their acquired brain injuries. This service must continue and indeed be encouraged to thrive, especially in our extremely rural area.
An essential service.

Public transport in the Annan area has seriously declined over the past couple of years, with the loss of local buses, the London to Dublin coach and other services via Dumfries, Carlisle and Lockerbie. It would be a pity if the Annandale Transport Initiative ends as well.
