This petition is now closed: We, the undersigned, strongly object to application 14/1452/FUL,
which would result in the loss of the wooden building currently occupied by the
Kew Bookshop and its replacement by a much larger retail unit. We urge
Richmond Council to reject the application and take further steps to protect
the look of Kew Village as well as its independent traders.
I have spent my mornings walking past our local bookshop and feeling the weight of what we are losing if this construction goes ahead. Many of you have sent messages sharing your own memories of this space which only confirms that we are fighting for the heart of our community.

Seeing this level of support for our local bookstore is truly overwhelming. It proves just how much this historic building means to the heart of Kew Village.

Kew village has so much character and this plan would ruin it. hope the council listens to the residents for once.

Sorry this was an unfinished objection to the application. In addition I am fully supportive of the suggestion that an application should be submitted to English Heritage for 1-2 Station Approach to be listed along with the rest of the parade ie 1-9 Station Approach.

The shop is a landmark. Why are they trying to tear it down? Stop this now.
