I was looking at photos of the reef bleaching again this morning and honestly it just stops me in my tracks because how can people actually look away from this. My inbox is filled with messages from people who feel exactly the same way about what is happening in Queensland and it keeps me going when things feel stagnant. We are putting together a plan to get this in front of some people who have actual power to stop the damage and I really hope they listen for once.

I honestly cannot believe how fast this is moving right now because who knew so many people actually cared about the reef as much as I do. It keeps me up at night just thinking about it but this wave of energy honestly feels like we might actually have a shot at stopping this mess.

I've always wanted to go to the Great Barrier Reef, but if people just stand back and let Tony Abbott ruin this beautiful place, my chances of going and seeing what made it so remarkable and famous will be slim.

We have a duty to preserve this beautiful and unique ecosystem. We need to think of our future generations. Mr Abbott wants to mine. He can mine elsewhere in Australia if he must. Mr Abbott must think about the consequences of his decisions not only for the present but for generations to come.

Not everyone has been to the great barrier reef. Please save it for other people that haven't yet had a chance to see it. Having such a beautiful reef is what Australians should be proud of. If you destroyed it, then you are the murderer of the prove that makes Australia significant.

This is so wrong and must be stopped. There are other ways to get money, and for me destroying the reef is not one of them. Tony rethink your decision!!

How can anyone be so shortsighted. The reef and our oceans are for the wider community and benefit the world as a whole, and not just the the interests of an influential and powerful few.
