They actually listened and decided against the demolition so the library is officially safe which feels totally surreal. I am still shaking a bit because this building has been a part of my life since I was a kid and I am just so glad we kept it standing. We …

Show your support for the preservation of our 1914 Clovis Carnegie Library.

A dedicated group of concerned citizens has come together to work with the City of Clovis and the Clovis Chamber of Commerce to ensure the preservation of the 1914 Clovis Carnegie Library located at 325 Pollasky in Old Town Clovis.

The committee's goal is to make the public aware of the Carnegie Library’s cultural significance and encourage the Chamber of Commerce to resolve its renovation needs without demolishing this historic structure. The group hopes to facilitate a win-win solution for both the Chamber of Commerce and the preservationist community.

At this time we are not collecting financial donations. Your voice and your signature is all that we ask. Thank you for your support.

I was looking at the old bricks on Pollasky yesterday and realized the sheer weight of people who care about this place is actually happening. It feels like the tide is finally turning and honestly I did not think so many people would remember these walls the way that I do.

I can see the counter creeping up toward that first hundred and it is honestly thrilling because that building on Pollasky has been sitting there for over a century waiting for us to actually care. If you have a moment today could you just grab the link and drop it into a group chat or a post somewhere because we need to hit those triple digits before I walk into the next chamber meeting so they know this is not just me talking to myself.

Visited the Peace Palace in The Hague, established with a grant from Carnegie, and was impressed by his commitment to philantrophy. Hope we can keep this example in Clovis to inspire others.

I spent many hours at that library going thru all those card index drawers looking for books I needed for book reports until my dad bought our family our own encyclopedias. After that I continued to go and check out books just for fun things to read. Please don’t destroy this beautiful building.

Born in 1950 in Clovis and used the library from K-12. In Clovis Unified. It is part of Old Town now and needs to be preserved.

This is a treasure! My father, Chester F Lindstrom was the head librarian there in 1958. His legacy has been passed down to my daughter Karin who is also a librarian.

Please save Carnegie Library. It's Clovis' Way of Life. I grew up in Clovis and my sister and brother's would study there back in the 70's. I would tag along and had to be extra quiet! It's part of me, part of all Clovis Citizens past and present!

For Old Town Clovis to maintain and and enhance its authentic character, its remaining stock of historic buildings and artifacts must remain.

I used this library a lot as a child and have wonderful memoirs of visiting the stacks.
