If you want to save Mickie Gordon Park, sign this petition!!! Loudoun County Parks and Res Department is proposing to convert Mickie Gordon Park into 3 large, championship cricket fields, with over 250 parking spaces and 18, 100+ foot light poles for evening matches. Many in our community are extremely concerned with this project because of massive increase in intensity and losing the existing facilities that serve this community. Parks and Rec will be having a public meeting to hear from the community on June 29th at 6pm at the American Legion in Middleburg - be sure to come. Our message to the County has been the following: There is no disagreement on the need for additional cricket fields and we all support it, but not at Mickie Gordon Park. These facilities should be in the Ashburn/South Riding area where the overwhelming majority of the cricket players live. This project is too intensive for this rural region and removing the only major facility that does serve the local community is unwarranted. If you want to save Mickie Gorgon Park as it is, please sign this petition. We will provide a copy to the county officials during the meeting on June 29th. Thanks, Bridge Littleton

One thousand people have told Loudoun County that they refuse to let Mickie Gordon Park be destroyed for this massive project. The bureaucrats in the Parks and Rec Department can no longer pretend this is just a minor neighborhood concern. We are bringing this momentum straight to the meeting to show them their plan is unacceptable.

The momentum we have built proves the County cannot ignore us anymore. They think they can steamroll this rural community for their reckless vanity project but we are showing them exactly how wrong they are.

Loudoun County Parks and Rec is still trying to force this destructive project into our rural community while ignoring where the players actually live. I have been demanding answers from these officials all week but they are hiding behind their desks because they cannot justify turning our park into a stadium. We are going to make sure they hear our outrage clearly when we show up at that meeting.

I think it’s very important to save Mickey Gordon Park. My kids play ball there my grandchildren, play ball there, and my great grand children would love to play ball there but they’ve done away with the baseball field. Please help us save that park.

Please don't change the park! How about building the new fields at the Old Arcola Elementary school site? The school has been boarded up for years and there is plenty of land for cricket courts. Stone springs Blvd. Rt 659.

I was on the Chatman of the Board of Supervisors when this Park was named for Mickie. I never meet a man that love the game of baseball and kids in Loudoun than Mickie. This field should remain for baseball as it was intended when we named it in his memory!

The proposed improvements do not reflect the needs of Middleburg. The requested 238 paved parking spaces are more than what are in the Middleburg town limits. We need to save the character of the Middleburg community which is why we are here.

Mickie Gordon Memorial Park is located in a low density area, adjacent to a small quiet neighborhood, next to a Town that has respect for the Dark Sky. This is the wrong location for large cricket fields with 100’ light towers.

The proposed expansion of Mickie Gordon park is not in keeping with the rural area and should not be allowed. A more suitable location in the transition zone would be better suited and would protect this historic park, the rural area, and its inhabitants.

This is a nice peaceful park in a residential area. Keep it that way.
