we actually did it because the city council just voted to scrap the parking plan and keep the park exactly as it is. i cant thank you enough for sticking with this when it looked like our trees were going to be paved over. lets keep an eye on things …

im honestly blown away by how many people stood up for the park this week. seeing so many neighbors agree that we need to protect this space feels incredible and it shows they cant just ignore us.

I grew up on Mercer Island and this is one of my favorite locations on the Island. It is a great place for a picnic! I have many fond memories of looking out over the lake from this spot. It would break my heart to see it paved over.
The existing P&R facitlity would be fine if a significant amount were set aside for MI Residents. It is currently not useable by residents as the whole thing is taken up by non-island residents. Building another parking structure will simple exacerbate the existing problem.
As owners of two properties close to Luther Burbank part, we are appalled to think the city could take any action to degrade this special place. Luther Burbank park sets the tone for the entire island and should be kept intact and green.
Please find alternatives to public and park property for Off Island Parking. The north end will be disrupted by OFF ISLAND PARKING and have buses in line on 80th turning it into a transit station. We do not have the roads(infrastructure) to accomodate this
The last thing we need is more concrete on what little natural areas we have left. This park is priceless - definitely worth more than $6M. I don't even live on Mercer Island but we use this park a lot in the summer with kids and dogs.
Save this beautiful land for MI residents
I volunteer witn Earthcorps and MTS greenway and would rather see more MI residents outside reclaiming these beautiful green spaces. There will always be competing financial and population pressures. I choose to live here rather than Texas, partly, because I value the environment we live in and hope to preserve what I can of it.

We would not need more parking spots for Mercer Island residents if we had a dependable public transit and good bike lanes. Let's not tear up our beloved park for a "temporary" park and a pipe dream of "Mercer Island resedent only" parking.
