It’s been announced that our local Family Dollar store is closing leaving us all devastated. We were all thrilled to have Family Dollar open up several years ago allowing us a place to shop without having to drive 20-30 minutes to Mt. Airy or Galax. We have come to love the employees that work at Family Dollar over the years. They have not only been shown kindness and maintained a clean, well stocked store, but they have become our friends. Lowgap is a tight knit, small town. We come together and rally around each other when one is in need. Whenever Family Dollar had a competition for sales we would pull out our wallets to help them win. It’s not the franchise that we have supported but the local store and their employees. Family Dollar says that it isn’t making enough profit to sustain the store and keep it open, although it’s been in the top 5 of sales in the district for years. I am petitioning Family Dollar to reconsider closing the Lowgap Family Dollar. I would also ask that everyone in the Lowgap/Beulah/Fairview/Ennice areas to sign this petition and in turn vow NOT to shop Family Dollar/Dollar tree stores if they close this location. Please share with your friends and family and ask that all take the challenge to boycott Family Dollar/Dollar Tree franchise if they close this store because it will eventually trickle down to every small town. Let’s fight to keep the doors open to a store that we need and to save jobs of the employees that we love and support!
