It would make it impossible for the following venues to continue to host live entertainment, due to there being no vehicle access for musicians dropping off and picking up their equipment to : Earls, The Music Room, Pizza Express, Hazlitt Theatre/The Exchange, The Druids Arms.
No drop-off points for wheelchair users and the elderly or people with mobility issues.
We only have until 24th Match to make our views heard on this proposal!

The scale of this response confirms the necessity of a formal meeting with the Maidstone Borough Council planning department. I am currently drafting a letter to the council lead to request a formal review of the vehicle access restrictions for Earl Street.

I have officially requested a formal hearing with the planning department to present the operational challenges this vehicle ban creates for our venues. Our petition documentation is currently being prepared for submission as supplementary evidence to the council committee.

Musicians are running out of places to play. Live performances and evenings of entertainment enrich our culture and draw people to our town. Why jeopardise something that is loved by so many?
As a small independent business with-in the town, we totally support other business's. We strongly believe that the proposed restrictions will have a detrimental effect to the live music scene and the venues that support it !
Vehicle access must be maintained for loading and drop off of equipment. It is madness that this hasn't been considered and I am deeply concerned about the future of the venues that will be affected as well as Maidstone's culture of live music.
What a stupid idea, how are disabled meant to get access to businesses and how are musicians meant to work? Maidstone borough council seem want to take away the love music scene from the town. Nice one...
This is ridiculous. My social outlet, is to go and see live bands here in Maidstone. The theatre needs vehicles to be able to take in set pieces etc, so would be the death of the theatre. Ludicrous!

If this were to go ahead many businesses would suffer including restaurants, the theatre and the associated shops in the area as people would not necessarily choose to park in the multi-storey. This could be a major disaster for Maidstone and the revenue that is generated.
