IMPORTANT UPDATE:
My message to MBC: Please can you confirm the proposed access time for Earl St after the planned pedestrianising. I have seen an online petition that states no access between 10.30am - 5am. This doesn't seem correct to me (based on Week St & Gabriels Hill).
Their reply:
Hi Ade, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We had proposed the 5am limit following an initial consultation, however following after we received more information about the need for access to Earl Street for specific shops and music venues, the proposals have been changed to allow access to off street premises and for permit holders. We are now consulting on the revised proposals.

Live music is part of the fabric of the community. Maidstone has a growing music scene that is producing real talent year on year. I would like to see some major efforts to support these venues that are crucial to any bands lifeblood and following and also to the community

These plans have not been thought through! Some of Maidstone's best live music happens down that road!

There are enough problems with music venues being restricted in Kent in the last few years, this would be a dire blow to the Musical community!

This street is vitally important if maidstone is to have live music at all. It also brings in lots of people on various nights of the week which makes economic sense

Do we really need more pretty streets for drunk people to hang around in? I would rather sit in a pub and watch some live music. Surely there must be a way to regenerated earl street and still allow vehicle access. Anyone have a link for the proposed plans as i cant find them anywhere?

You don't know it any more than your neighbours on Medway council do, but the music scene right under your nose and run by independents is renowned beyond your boundaries and deserves assistance and promotion. Don't do this. It's bloody daft.
