We are asking for your support to be able to continue with Live Music at The Ship Inn, Sewerby having received an Abatement Notice from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The Abatement Notice comes off the back of complaints from Residents of Seagate View regarding the level of noise. After having noise level meters placed in their homes the council have sufficient recordings to give us no choice to end live music sessions until we find a resolution.

Your support not only for Live Music at The Ship Inn but Live Music as a whole is asked for, We have supported Live Music for over 14 years when we hosted the ever popular Acoustic Sessions on a Thursday evening and from that brought about Live sessions in the beer garden,

The bitter pill we have to swallow is that some of these complainants once upon a time aquainted the pub and the live music sessions, are committee members of the Sewerby Village Residents Association and have used the SVRA for their own gain whilst disrupting other businesses and residents along the way.

Having invested £45,000 into beer garden this year whilst trying to accommodate their requests to move the music moved further away from their property with the addition of the music marquee we have still received this Abatement Notice.

Until a resolution is found we've have taken the decision to end all live music sessions for this year. We are proud to have supported Live Music and the vibe and pleasure it has brought to you our customers.

Thank you for your Support

I truly never imagined that one thousand people would care about what happens at our little pub. This outpouring of kindness belongs entirely to you because I am just completely overwhelmed by your response.

Not to mention this is a lovely garden and something enjoyable for all in the summer time but cancelling music will affect many musicians who play at The Ship. Being a musician myself playing regularly at The Ship, this directly affects our livelihood.

Seems very unfair and depremental to a business to stop this when the fair ground nearer to the town centre has blaring music most days which can be heard up towards sewerby. This surely is sour grapes on the residents part and doesn’t happen every day

Always enjoyed the live music in the beer garden at The Ship and its never been so loud that you couldn't have a conversation over the music. I lived behind The Telegraph pub for years and as long as it finished at 10pm or was inside it was never a problem

I live near a local pub who also play live music outside and I accept that and enjoy it! Local talent has come from playing at the ship and have made it in the music industry! Without them having the chance to play they may never would have formed!

In support of an amazing venue that supports many community causes and were invaluable during lockdown to many, who are being punished because residents who chose to live by a public house, that has gone above & beyond to accommodate their requests.

Venues with live music are in serious decline and the lost of entertainment at The Ship Inn would be detrimental to the business. Hopefully the business and neighbours can come to an agreement regarding acceptable days/times for the music to continue.

Lots of caravan owners in Sewerby and surrounding areas will miss the live music at The Ship. Such a shame as so many pubs are struggling at present. Im from Doncaster and we no longer have the many live music venues we had 3yrs ago.
