The Mayor of London plans to close Hackney's Kingsland Fire Station - please sign this petition to tell him that we think his plan is dangerous and wrong.
Kingsland Fire Station on Kingsland Road serves both people across Hackney and from neighbouring boroughs. Ifitwas to close the nearest fire stations to the area would be Old Street, Stoke Newington or Homerton. All three are a significant distance from the areas Kingsland Fire Station currently serves.
The Mayor of London's plan - which is currently out for public consultation - will increase response times thereby putting local residents at risk and increasing the risk of fire causing serious harm orloss oflife in the borough.
We call on the Mayor of London to immediately reconsider his plans to close our fire station.

The Mayor of London clearly underestimated how many of us refuse to let him gamble with our safety. We have built enough momentum to force his hand and he is starting to feel the heat.

The Mayor thinks he can quietly shut down Kingsland Fire Station without a fight. We are nearing a hundred signatures but we must turn up the heat right now to stop his dangerous plan. Send this link to everyone you know in Hackney before he ignores us completely.

lives will be at risk if this goes ahead. very bad move by the mayor.
The response times will suffer so much if they shut this down. Not safe for anyone living in hackney.
Kingsland is a busy road and we need local cover. cant believe they are even thinking about this.
Stoke newington is way too far if something happens here. stop cutting everything we need to survive.
Ridiculous idea. Seconds count when there is a fire and taking this away is just plain dangerous.
