Southwark Council opposes the planned cuts to the local fire service as set out in the Draft Fifth London Fire Safety Plan. The Mayor of London’s fire authority is proposing:
• A 32% reduction in the number of firefighters in Southwark
• The closure of Southwark fire station
• A reduction in thefirefighters and equipment at Peckham
We believe these cuts will seriously affect the fire brigade’s ability to prevent and fight fires in Southwark. Please sign our petition today and help us prevent these brutal plans from going ahead.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to protect our fire stations. If we can just lean in a little harder to reach that next milestone, it might finally make them stop and listen to what our community really needs.

BEYOND STUPID. fire fighters save lives everyday and they want to reduce them? dont do it.
32% cut is insane. who thought this was a good idea? please leave our fire brigade alone.
Ridiculous proposal. You cant just cut emergency services like this and expect everything to be fine when disaster strikes.
keep our station open! southwark needs 100% coverage.
This is genuinely terrifying. we need our fire stations open. Lives are at risk here and they are just looking at numbers on a page.

My family lives right near the station and seeing it get closed would be a massive blow to our safety. stop the cuts now.
