Save Fletcher Moss grass tennis courts
Fletcher Moss is a beautiful park in Didsbury, South Manchester. Within it's rose garden, ornamental trees, rockery, nature reserve and tea room, it has 5 grass and 5 shale tennis courts woefully lost to neglect and previously in an almost unplayable condition.
The community group 'Fletcher Moss Community Tennis' is working with 'Friends of Fletcher Moss' and Manchester Council to get this wonderful local resource back in use. We have managed so far to get the shale courts back to a playable condition but we want to get the only community use, grass tennis courts playable by summer 2014. We have had estimates that this should cost about £5000. We think we can manage this if we can show that people want to save them!
We need your signature to prove that people want to access these non club grass tennis courts. These enable aspiring players to get experience on the surface without the potentially prohibitive cost of club membership. It is a fantastic shared spectacle for all age groups and a wonderful part of our British sporting history that needs to be maintained.
