I have finalized the formal proposal regarding the park maintenance budget and submitted it to the planning office today. We are currently waiting for a confirmed appointment with the council representative to discuss these findings.

The project has reached a critical level of visibility that necessitates a formal meeting with the local council planning department. I am currently finalizing the agenda for this discussion to present the community position on the preservation of the play park.

Cannot believe it’s closing! Who decides this? Have they asked the residents’ ideas? Just think it’s a joke that my son’s learning topic is democracy in Wormit School. Is this democracy?

The park was more than likely a condition of planning when the estate was built back in the day. It was needed back then, the houses are still here, the houses are still homes to families with all ages of children. Don't understand why anyone can even contemplate closing such a well used and loved resource. Having the new houses only increases the foot flow using local resources. My kids still use it regularly. It needs redeveloping NOT CLOSING.

There are very few parks in the Wormit/Newport area for children to use, and none in walking distance (if this were to go). Extremely important now that so many houses have been built in the local area. Redevelopment of the current parks are needed, not reducing them.

This wonderful resource (though sadly delapidated at the moment) is needed more than ever now that there are around 100 new-build houses right next to it. The children and families of Wormit deserve a modern park that can be enjoyed by both young and old. The village needs amenities for it to be a community. Building more and more houses with no infrastructure is disgraceful. Do not get rid of this park - enhance it and make it a destination park.

This park was a key local asset when we lived nearby and our children were growing up - we all spent many enjoyable hours in the park. Its even more important now with a large housing development nearby.

My son and his pals have a brilliant time running around this play park. Parks like this are so important for kids’ physical and mental well-being. We need more parks, not fewer.

A well used park. How can we encourage children into the outdoors if we take away a safe space?
