The city has officially withdrawn the development plans. I am honestly stunned by this result and I owe this entirely to your persistence in speaking up for our neighborhoods. Let us keep a watchful eye on things moving forward so our community remains exactly as we want it.

This is a Petition from Clarkston citizens to the Mayor, City Council and Administration to
- Request an immediate moratorium/stoppage on the issuance of any additional permits, approvals, or other actions related to the proposed development project of the North American Missionary Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
- The moratorium/stoppage is required because citizens have not been adequately informed about this large proposed development.
- Because of this lack of information citizens are unaware of the serious potential impacts such as lowering of property values due to traffic congestion including bus traffic, overflow parking on residential streets, excessive noise from sports fields, light pollution into nearby residences, non-residential incursion into the neighborhoods, disruption of travel patterns due to the abandonment of a public street, and a weakening of neighborhood cohesiveness due to incompatible land use.
- This plan is contrary to Clarkston’s Future Land Use Plan, developed with public input and adopted by Clarkston and approved by the Georgia State Legislature.

It is ironic that a missionary board has pushed out refugee support organizations to build their structures. Sadly what they have done has pushed out several successful refugee help programs that used this site and now have no "home" in tiny Clarkston.
No. People cannot just build and do what they want with champion trees and historic buildings because they have money and a tax exempt status. Just no. Clark’s tom has its own church which are its diverse people and neighborhood.....leave it be!
Yes, residents will be allowed to talk, now that the cat is out of the bag. Ask the mayor how long he has been working with the church on this project and why he intentionally kept residents in the dark.
I am so disappointed in our elected officials for allowing this to happen. It is detrimental to the city. The deception is disgraceful.
The mayor and city manager attempted to move this project forward while bypassing proper procedure. Meanwhile neither of them even lives in Clarkston. We must put a stop to this until residents decide whether this project us a fit for the city.

You asked for it, you got it, New Clarkston. Sad to see all the religious tests imposed on this project. Btw, Dekalb County is expanding its sewer systems to accommodate thousands of new potential voters, sorry, residents. Yay, stack&packs!

I support outreach and work with refugees, but please don't destroy more of our tree canopy and one of our few streets with well-maintained older and historic houses to do so. This doesn't accord with the plans shown to the citizens a couple of years ago, either.
