The square is officially ours for the festival. I am drained from the months of fighting this opposition but relieved we kept our community event alive. We will be watching to see that everything stays on track for the big day.

Final supporters
We are gearing up for a really exciting event. We've hit a slight snag and could use your help and support. The Street Fair and MusicFest are in jeopardy of not happening because a couple businesses in the square oppose the closure of the PT Barnum Sq. Please sign this petition to support this great event intended to draw people to our wonderful town. There will no vote happening 4/19, but we still need your support. Thanks!

Reaching this level of support has been exhausting but deeply encouraging while we navigate these roadblocks. I admit the opposition has made this feel like an uphill battle. Still, knowing you are behind this event gives me the resolve to keep pushing forward.

As a business owner along Greenwood Ave. I look forward to this event happening each and every year. It brings hundreds of new faces to our town and gives us the chance (as businesses) to say "Thanks for Supporting Us" by hosting a fun event for our community to enjoy.
Don't let a few bad apples ruin a community event. Consider the date. Occasions claims prom as one reason. Proms are over by July. Also the liquor store is claiming. Sorry. It has very few customers to begin with and there are parking spaces around the corner.
This festival will enhance the town's image as a cultural center and will bring lots of foot traffic to the area. This is a win-win for both the town and for its businesses. A few days of restricted parking will not *(or should not) make or break a business. A lot of time and efforts has gone into planning this event and I appreciate all those who have invested in this event.
I am in favor of the street fair. As a fairly new resident, it gives me the opportunity to leisurely wander around and explore the downtown stores.
as a property and business owner on PT Barnum square I think an event like this helps draw more customers to the downtown. With that being said, I actually am slower on days of these events but recognize the larger picture. The high amount of foot traffic will expose my business to potential customers that will hopefully come in the future and spend more than I may loose on one particular day. Aren't we supposed to be supporting the long term growth of our community!
I find it hard to believe that it has come to this. For a town event that logically would be a plus for any business in the immediate area, it is unfortunate that a few businesses can't see through their own greed and threaten the whole affair. Sad, sad, sad.
Let the fair happen! Great event for all!

This is a great event for the town and businesses. Everyone should work together, it is only 2 days. A lot of work is put into organizing and running these events by BobbiJo Beers and the Chamber of Commerce volunteers. If P.T. Barnum Square is closed off it is a short distance, you can still get to businesses walking 1/2 block. No boycotts in Bethel. Keep the love people!
