The council has confirmed that our youth club will remain open and fully funded. This result serves as a reminder that our community remains a vital priority for those who manage our local resources. I am grateful that we could secure this space for the young people of New Ferry.

New Ferry is a mixed income but strong community located on the western shore of the River Mersey, opposite Liverpool.

Due to its current budget crisis, Wirral Borough Council is making huge cuts to its services.  Bebington & New Ferry Youth Club is one of a number of “satellite” youth clubs which is now facing the axe.  In our ward, the only Youth Club likely to stay open is the “hub” at Eastham – too far for New Ferry kids to get to.

Our kids love their Youth Club which, for decades, has organised many activities that help young people to keep occupied and socialise in a safe and well managed environment.  New Ferry is not a wealthy area, and some of its children do not have the same opportunities as others elsewhere.  Their Youth Club is much loved and much needed.

Please help us to keep our Youth Club open and survive any proposed cuts by Wirral Borough Council by signing this petition.

Youth clubs provide a safe and supportive environment for young people to socialise. Without them they loose adults whom they can turn to in times of need, and are left to find their own entertainment on the streets, which unfortunately includes vandalism and crime. Please keep the youth clubs open.

Eastham is way to far for the younger ones to get to on their own. Absolutely unfair on the kids who live round here.

Keep the youth club open. It stops so much hassle on the streets.

My lad goes here every week. If you shut it he will just be out hanging round the shops. Wirral council needs to get its head straight.

Used to go here when I was a teenager and it kept me out of trouble. New ferry has nothing else for the kids, don't take this away too.
