She's had a lot of sick days, and as a result they're now preventing her from teaching her class now. They've got an "assistant" who is now running her class, and her students are failing.
The goal of this petition is to keep Mrs. Hazen and her ASL class at HWHS.
She's been a wonderful teacher to us all, and now it's our turn to help her.

I have been reading your comments about how much Mrs. Hazen meant to your education and it truly humbles me to see how many people she touched. It is becoming clear that this is about far more than just a class schedule because your words show how much this community values her dedication. I am still working behind the scenes to get someone at the district to actually listen to what you all have to say.

I am truly overwhelmed by the response to this cause because I never imagined so many people would join me in supporting Mrs. Hazen. This momentum is entirely due to your kindness and your dedication to the students who need her back in the classroom.

she seems like shes very well liked and respected, does her job well if without her people are failing. Give her the job back.
The ASL program at Hanford West is an important program because it gives students the ability to communicate with Deaf people even after high school graduation. This is an important skill that could possibly be needed for when a student is working in a job and needs to communicate with a Deaf customer. I was a part of her ASL 1, 2, and 3 classes and graduated in 2013. Mrs. Hazen is a great teacher and is passionate about her job. She has definitely given me the ability to communicate with Deaf people.
I was a student in Mrs.Hazen's class for ASL 1 & 2, and also had the privilege of being a student aid in one of her ASL 3 classes. I learned so much from this woman, much more than a language or about another culture, but about the kind of person I wanted to be after my high school cater
Mrs Hazen was the only teacher who gave a damn while I was there. she was patient and built a love for the deaf community that I use everyday in my work with Veterans. give all students this oppertunity to have a beautiful outlook on life.
I've been lucky to have been taught ASL by Mrs. Hazen and to use it on several occasions after graduating high school. Allowing high schools to be exposed to ASL can help them to be patient with others and also be helpful to the deaf community if need be. Limiting ASL to one high school only allows a small population of students to be exposed to ASL. I hope they reconsider letting go of a wonderful teacher who is passionate about sign language and capable of teaching students whom she too cares about.
why take away programs that we are learning more from and adds to our helping to graduate.

My daughter Sloane Polzien is in the ASL program. It means a great deal to the both of us. ASL is a wonderful language and should be continued to be taught.
