we have recently learned that Active Central at the Mellish Sports centre is to close at the end of August 2013. The centre is a very important part of the community. It serves a diverse group of people from the young to old, serving many ethnic groups, religious groups and is very important for fitness and social and emotional well being! Myself and friends who have attended the centre joined for various reasons and it has become such an important part of our lives we have made many friends, it has encouraged us to become more confident and we have also become fit and lost weight which is a bonus! Many of us would have very little by way of social interaction without it and for me, well, attending the centre has made my depression far more manageable as I have received a huge amount of support from the staff there and its members! In a world where there is an increasing amount of obesity, I am appalled that such an important part of the Bulwell community is due to close. The Mellish Centre Action Group please urge you to sign and support us in saving the Centre. Thank you.
