This is for Samworth students, parents/carers and anyone who believe that the prices of uniform and the enforcement of regulation shirts and trousers is not a good idea.

Updates

April 2, 2015

I have been reading the messages from parents who are genuinely worried about how they will afford these new costs before the term begins. Your stories show that this policy is hurting families who are already stretched thin. I am currently reaching out to the governors to demand a formal review of these requirements.

April 2, 2015

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one struggling with these costs. Watching our community come together like this gives me real hope that we can finally force a change for our kids.

The new school uniform is out of hand. the fact that the bigger you are the more money you have to spend is absolutely ridiculous! i'm pretty sure that's going to lower people's self esteem about their body's and the way they look, especially a school full of teenagers, fair enough bring the new uniform but don't change the prices just because someone might have a little more fat on them, this school should ask the students their opinions and what they think of it so we can all cooperate together as it is us students who have to go through all these changes, actually need to be more considerate.

I dont think anyone needs a logo on their school trousers or blouse. We already have suitable smart uniform and this flies in the face of government advice to make uniform affordable for hard working families. We can only buy it from one approved supplier? Wheres the competitive pricing in that?

i think that this whole uniform policy, regardless of prices is ridiculous. We should be able to at least her the freedom to chose the branding of our school clothes. This doesn't affect our learning or anything in our school life. Furthermore, I do not understand why the girls trousers are significantly more than the boys trousers, especially those who are not from a wealthier background, I find this sexist and it should be addressed right away

This is not going to make a difference to my child's education, it will make an unnecessary difference to my pocket.

Instead of wasting money on ridiculous new uniform that nobody needs or wants, they could spend the money on the schools technology that doesn't work.

I find this absolutely ridiculous. They claim it will make the 'school a better place' but by changing the way the school uniform looks and increasing the prices they are doing anything but that. I see no problem with the school uniform as it is at the minute. How about, instead of changing the uniform, change the attitude to students because there are many students with mental health problems and are being bullied amongst other things, focus on that instead because that is the main problem. Not the uniform, the staffs attitude towards students

A friend has sent me this comment - Have they carried out a consultation with families? Our school tried to do this a few years ago and they had to throw it out because of so many complaints, it just wasn't done properly and they tried to rush it through (we got even less notice because they told us 2 weeks before the summer). There is guidance on the Government website about school uniforms and implementing policy that schools must pay attention to - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/school-uniform - which you can reference in your argument (renewed since we did it but still makes the same key points, affordability and parent consultation). Also I recommend you get people to write/email individually to the school as this will have a greater impact than one petition. There is also a petition being run on Facebook

The prices are so disgusting! In what way is what my child wearing going to affect what or how she learns??? My child gets bullied and nothing gets done about it because obviously there more interested about their image and how ofsted see them. But my daughter will be getting taken out of this school and I can see many more kids leaving also. Because I am positive there is a lot of single mums like me who are not able to pay these ridiculous prices. Really am disgusted with Samworth
