We (the students, faculty, and staff) at LACCD petition to lower class caps for in-person instruction and reduce in-person services during the winter and spring 2022 due to the imminent risks to health and safety.
We trust the Board of Trustees will support the well-being of each campus and their use of HEERF funds to accomplish this goal.

To ensure a safe learning environment in light of the pandemic situation, it is imperative that we reduce class sizes to allow 6 ft between each student and the instructor. Please help your students and your instructors by mandating reduction in class size to accommodate needed social distance in class rooms.
Please keep the classroom a safe space for all to learn. Social distancing has helped me and my students feel less anxious in the classroom. Students are taking social distancing seriously and want to learn and be safe in the classroom.
Covid isn't over. If safety truly is a concern of the LACCD, keep online classes and low-cap in-person classes as options for faculty and students. HERFF funds can make that happen.
Common sense says small in-person classes at this time will keep faculty and students safe and keep students enrolled. Drive them away by canceling small classes and they may never come back. We get back to “norm” is step by step, not immediately
LACCD has been encouraging professors to pack their classes for years, which was not a productive educational experience before COVID and is now a safety hazard during a pandemic. Class numbers absolutely have to go down

Keep class sizes down. We should not be the only college campus in the state of California who caps class sizes at 42+. This is a civil rights issue since we are a mostly poc campus.
