This
petition supports improving the safety of the intersection
at Morrisville Parkway/Carpenter Upchurch. It is north of Green Hope
High School and west of Carpenter Elementary Schools by the railroad crossing.
Your input is needed by April 19 to advocate for priority budgeting by Town Of Cary for this project.
The
proposed improvement is removal of dividers so people could drive through the
intersection via timed lights. The project would also involve new crosswalk,
longer railroad crossing gate lengths, etc. I can't attach the draft drawing
from Town of Cary on Project #ST1123, so put your email in comments and I'll send it directly to you if you want the details.. All
proposed modifications are preliminary concepts used for discussion in light of
documented safety concerns at this intersection.
As
of now, if anyone leaves GHHS and wants to go north to 55/540, they have to go
right onto the M. Parkway, do a u-turn and come back. Many other traffic
patterns currently re-directed around those existing medians would also be improved
with this proposed change.
Your
voice is needed please by April 19 on this petition to get budgeting priority
so it happens timely with CSX, NCDOT and other necessary approvals. Please
do not email all the Council directly as this petition advocacy
will be more effective as a whole in large numbers! Please put your thoughts in comments in this petition, if you desire.
This petition's results will be presented to all TOC Council Members and Mayor.
Good for everybody over all. There are other areas that needs improvement. Example : Cozy Oak Avenue needs speed limit lowered from 35 to may be 20. It is a huge safety issue for children. The layout is very compact and around 90+ driveways in 1mile length. The town should not wait until something terrible happens. Thank you.
