We, the undersigned concerned citizens of the Smith Level Road area, hereby voice our request that the Town of Carrboro and NCDOT pursue an alternative to the current NCDOT road improvement plan for Smith Level Road. The current plan, with the center turn lanes, and the multi-lane expansion at both the BPW and Culbreth intersections, will make crossing Smith Level Road an unsafe venture for both bicyclists and pedestrians. We urge both parties to seek an alternative which keeps the roundabout at Rock Haven, and bases the rest of the project on the two-lane road cross section used on most of Carrboro\'s other arterial roads: two vehicular travel lanes with left-turn lanes at intersections, bicycle lanes, and sidewalks. This petition will be sent to NCDOT and the Carrboro Board of Aldermen.
