We the undersigned call upon the UK Government and Transport Secretary to immediately strip Govia Thameslink Railway of the Southern train contract and pass responsibility for managing the service to Transport for London, which operates under the democratic oversight of the directly elected and accountable Mayor of London.
As residents of the London Borough of Croydon, we also call upon Croydon Council to use its resources and influence to support and campaign for this objective.

Every single day there is a delay or a cancellation. Im sick of paying a fortune for a service that barely exists. Get them out.
Govia runs a terrible service in my local area. Constant delays, cancellations, and now the removal of Train Guards, whom are vital to the safety of passengers, has muddied the reputation of rail franchises in the eyes of Croydonians. Southern and Thameslink services are miles behind those across the country, and further still behind services in Continental Europe. New rail stock is seldom seen, and the lack of investment is clear as day for all to see. As a member of the Labour Party and of Young Labour, I am thrilled to see a commitment from Labour and Jeremy Corbyn to Renationalise British Rail, improve the quality of Public Services such as the Rail Network, and return the profits to running and maintenance, rather than international corporate fat-cats or even other nation states as is the case with Govia/Southern…
