Royal Mail finally agreed to issue stamps for our gold medal Paralympic athletes after months of constant pushback. I am exhausted by this fight but glad we held them accountable for their discriminatory choices. We proved that ignoring these incredible accomplishments was never an option.

We the undersigned wish to voice our displeasure at Royal Mail and their actions regarding the Paralympics at London 2012.

Throughout our very successful Olympics at London 2012, Royal Mail have created stamps of all of our Gold Medal winning Olympic athletes.  We applaud this in helping to celebrate the successes of our amazing Team GB Olympic athletes at London 2012.

We therefore find it extremely difficult to understand the decision NOT to celebrate Team GB Paralympic athletes who attain gold medals in the same way.  We feel that this discriminates against people with disabilities and shows clear double standards and an elitist attitude.  It suggests that people with disabilities are somehow deemed to be lesser in society and their achievements mean less than people who do not have disabilities.

We would therefore like to submit this petition through Ability Action Southend CIC and on behalf of all those who feel that this decision by Royal Mail is wrong and must be reconsidered at the highest level.

The silence from the leadership at Royal Mail is heavy but it only proves why this conversation is necessary. I have been spending my nights tracking every response and lack thereof because these athletes deserve the same recognition as anyone else.

Reaching this level of support has been a long and exhausting process. Seeing so many people recognize this blatant discrimination makes the fatigue feel a little more endurable.

Disgusting attitude. Gold is gold no matter who wins it.

Absolute disgrace. They worked just as hard as the other athletes and deserve the same recognition.

Our paralympians are absolute legends and it makes me so angry they are getting ignored like this.
