In response to the recent notices placed at the start and end of the walk to the North side of the River Dene (opposite to the Sewerage works); there has been much disappointment declared from the many of the users of this much used popular walk.

The footpath is part of a permissive access granted by the HRI (now Warwick Uni), access will cease 30th Sept 2012.

Over many years this meadow has provided great enjoyment to hundreds of people everyday; providing a beautiful and peacful river/meadow walk, access to the river (with small beach where kids often enjoy the water) and of course a valuable safe dog walking circuit close to the village. It is accessible easily within walking distance of the whole village and is the only such local place safe from traffic and livestock.
It provides a valuable amenity to locals and a must visit for dog owners.

From people I have talked to in the last couple of days, there is an obvious strong determination that we should make it clear how much people rely on this access and that people would be very sad to loose it.
So I would like to ask you please add your name to this petition; perhaps with a bit of persuasion we can change their mind.

I still have to find out what exactly the reason is for this closure, and what is planned by Warwick Uni for it's future use... Maybe it is just coming to the end of the registered Permission and that it might be renewed ...? If anyone has any more info or wishes to help coordinate the effort to try and keep it open please contact me at finlaydoberman@gmail.com.
Let me know your thoughts to...

I will try to find out what the plans are for the meadow from Warwick Uni and the Council next week and update this text soon.

Thanks
Dave Francis (and Finlay)
