The school board just confirmed that the dress code change is official and we can finally wear our ripped jeans again. I am honestly in shock that this actually happened because this result belongs entirely to you. Please keep an eye on the handbook just to ensure the update is …
We the students of Early College high school and Cfbisd school district request a repeal of a section in the dress code, which states that "Ripped Jeans aren't allowed.
I started this because I was frustrated by the dress code but hearing your stories has made me realize how much we all feel the same way. I am currently working on putting together a formal request to show the administration, so please know that your signatures are doing the real work here.

We are COLLEGE STUDENTS!!
We do take COLLEGE CLASSES!!
We are in a COLLEGE CAMPUS!!
SO, we should be treated like high school students, not as middle schoolers and allow us to wear "Ripped Jeans". We already work our behind on being successful, we are the students that make the program continue. We deserve more than just "Ripped Jeans!"

We as students of ECHS have worked very hard to be where we are now, student dress code has been yet another restriction on us, we are aware of what is professional and what isn't, or when it's appropriate to wear or when it's not, but these jeans are a form of self expression and we know you may not see it that way, but this is how we feel, trapped most of the time because we have so many limitations for teens who just want a regular life, but we want that associates degree, which explains why we sacrificed a regular teenage life, thank you.

Ripped jeans are a harmless fashion statement that do not affect a student's ability to work and thrive in a learning environment. As future professionals, I understand that students must learn how to dress as such, but there is no need to inhibit self-expression in the process.

Ripped jeans are no issue at all, unless they're so ripped that your whole thigh and leg show. That's the only way I can think of them "distracting". Most ripped jeans don't even show that much skin, especially not with leggings under them! We're young adults in an adult environment, we should be trusted to express ourselves with our wardrobe as long as we don't take it too far.

If ripped jeans, something so minor, "distracts" us from learning then theres obviously something wrong with the way they're teaching.
