High school students in the Mesquite district do not believe that not having a dress code will affect our learning. Instead of sending students to ISS for wearing jeans and joggers we can come together to improve a better learning environment, additionally it would also reduce discipline issues.
The emails I keep exchanging with administrators are exhausting and slow. It is frustrating to talk in circles while students continue to lose class time over their clothes. I am exhausted by the constant pushback but I refuse to let this go.

Reaching this point has been exhausting but watching the momentum build proves we are not alone in this fight. This indicates the district can no longer ignore the reality of how these policies disrupt our education.

I feel like dress code is really restricting. At my college I go to, you are allowed to wear whatever you want. And the same at my job, I can wear jeans and a t-shirt and I don’t get in trouble.

I love this!! Honestly kids need to be able to express themselves through their clothes. Clothes shouldn’t be a “distraction”. And yes this would prevent a lot of kids from getting unnecessary discipline.

I am a former student of MHS who now goes to plano senior high school i will be re-attending mhs in a few weeks and here at Plano we have no dress code. It shows our students a form of freedom and expressing ourselves through our clothes. Dropping dress code makes you all think we are all going to start dressing provocatively and that certainly is not the case we all just want a chance to wear what we want.

Dress codes are unfair and forbid us from expressing ourselves and feeling controlled by the district to tell me what I can and cannot wear is honestly ridiculous when did school become about what we wear instead of education cause personally I'd rather get my GPA up instead of having someone worry about if I'm in dress code or not

The average school pants are uncomfortable as well as very thin so when it is close to freezing or below freezing it is uncomfortable for students as well as potentially dangerous for people who don’t have the luxury of transportation via vehicle to and from school.
