Final supporters
The purpose of this petition is to adequately represent the concern of the residents surrounding the proposed apartment project located on the north side of Dragoon Trail between Fir Road and Clover Road. There is overwhelming opposition to this development as the project is out of scale and character to the surrounding neighborhoods.
The surrounding neighborhoods are predominately owner occupied single family homes. The property in question has already been zoned for single family homes as part of the original Ridgemont Crossing Planned Unit Development.
- Allowing the development of this high-density apartment complex runs a real risk of making our homes less marketable, disrupting the community aesthetic, and significantly lowering property values as a result.
- Current homeowners would all be sacrificing our privacy and our existing neighborhood setting if this project proceeds.
- This apartment complex would impact the already existing concern of overcrowding in our schools.
- The increase in traffic generated by the project, which would be directly across from a City park, will create additional safety conflicts for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The roads are narrow with no shoulders. There are no sidewalks. There are no bicycle lanes.
We, the undersigned of this petition DO NOT approve of these plans and oppose the rezoning request. While we are not opposed to future development of this site we are all specifically opposed to this type of project, i.e. apartments or similar structures. Moving forward with the rezoning would demonstrate a major disregard for the concern of the neighboring residents.

I really started this just to keep my neighbors informed about the rezoning, but the sheer volume of people who feel exactly the same way has been completely overwhelming. It is truly your passion and knowledge of our local streets that gives this effort any real weight at all.

I am honestly stunned by how many of you have stepped up to protect our neighborhood. This momentum belongs entirely to the people who live here and care about our community. Thank you for showing me that I am certainly not the only one concerned about this project.

My wife and I are in strong opposition of this development. We have lived on Fir Road for Seven years and would hate to see property values drop in the area. We also do not want to see even more traffic on two already very busy roads.
I have lived in Rosewood for 17 years and have been on the RHOA Board for 11. History and experience has shown that there is a water drainage concern in the area. All in homes have sump pumps which don't always prevent flooding in basements. The 3 retention basins that collect run off thru street drains fill in heavy rains. A high water table and natural underground water flowing thru this area from the hills on the S to the river on the N contributes to drainage issues. A county drainage ditch parallel to Eadus drains into the proposed PUD area. Adding more roofs and concrete parking lots will increase the problems. How will the county and the city address drainage? I question whether the proposed provisions on the site map would be adequate.
We, the homeowners of Ridgemont Crossing already got the short end of the stick due to Weiss homes bankruptcy, now you want to hit us again with lowering our property values. Thanks but NO!!!! If they want to build apartments, they should do it up on 12th street where it was originally proposed and approved!!! That is a much better location for multifamily living than in what we were told was going to be entirely a single family subdivision.
Please do not ruin our view of George Wilson park, devalue our property, increase traffic in the neighborhood and ruin the neighborhood. We purchased our house based on it being single family homes only.
Not only would this cause lots of extra traffic on Draggoon and Fir/Birket; I would be very concerned with high water/flooding in the surrounding developments due to loss of undeveloped ground the absorbs rain, and instead all the asphalt would cause that water to flow into the existing housing areas to the north which are lower.
I am against re-zoning, but am for single family homes being developed.
I am totally against re-zoning.

I am opposed to the apartment development in this area. With Dragoon and Fir being two lane roads an apartment complex will congest the roads even more. I reach the Dragoon/Fir stop sign at 735am and there are mornings that I have to wait 2-3 minutes before there is a break in traffic for me to be able to turn left. I cannot imagine the how long the wait will be if apartments constructed.
