What did Abner Jackson do for our community besides deal in human trafficking, and force slave labor that made him rich? Where is our Martin Luther King blvd? Or Lincoln? Surely Lake Jackson doesn't support naming streets after terrorists. What's next, bin laden lane?

I know the town is lake JACKSON...But the street is New, and has nothing to do with history. We have a bitter past. We are reminded by our town name. Why honor a man that trafficked human beings? Was it not the slaves that worked to make this town what it is? Where is the honor of history in that?
