Born and raised in Marshall Texas I knew there was a divide but, people normally stay to themselves. In the forward movement of the country I noticed that a confederate monument still stands emboldened in our towns center. Learning more about my city I found that once upon a time we were the center of slave trade, Jim Crow, and undoubtedly race suppression. Rather than fix or restore African American monuments we (Our Community) would like to see the statue brought down and replaced with unity

Marshall or no other city needs to have reminders of the grotesque behaviors that confederate leaders imposed on black people.
