Rhode Island has become a tax collector machine, everything in Rhode Island is fixed by raising taxes, specially annually vehicle taxes which is affecting the working community, students and all obeying citizens across the state. Owning a vehicle is already expensive enough, insurance, maintenance, inspection, Gas, registration, financing interest rate, etc. but if that wasn't enough In 2011, the state of Rhode Island decided to reduce the tax exemption from $6000 to $1,000. this means that if your vehicle is valued at more than $1,000, you will have to pay the annually taxes on that particular vehicle. This move strictly affected the people who are living pay check to pay check, and students who need a decent vehicle for their daily commute. The state is leaving us with no choice, but to start buying vehicles valued at less than $5,000 that are filled with mechanical problems and high mileage. Owning a vehicle is already expensive enough, and now Rhode Island is making more difficult for citizens. people don't want to finance vehicles anymore, people are afraid of buying new vehicles. And to add on, License renewals went up to $61.50 and the department of transportation is charging an extra $30 on your vehicle registration renewals making the total $91 for a simple registration renewal. Don't you feel like you're spending too much already? Our citizens are beginning to move out of states or registering the vehicles out of state to evade paying high taxes. enough it's enough we want lower vehicle taxes!! We need to act now! Share this!
