Our neighbors John and Tammy Glover have requested a special use permit for their property located at 54 Faye Drive Smithfield, Va. 23430 in the Moonefield neighborhood. This property is zoned Neighborhood Residential [N-R] & Environmental Conservation [E-C].
As home owners and residents of The Moonefield Estates subdivision we do NOT approve of the rezoning request for this property. This will effect the charm of a peaceful and quiet neighborhood, bring in unwanted additional traffic from vendors and wedding guest. It will create issues like congestion and loud music, plus safety issues for our children.
On Faye Drive there are over 15 children under the age of 10 that ride their bikes, skateboard and walk their dogs. This will bring unwanted traffic to John Rolfe Drive, Moonefield Drive, Watson Drive, Riverside Drive area.
Thank you for your time and listening to our request. We love our Town and our wonderful Moonefield neighborhood.

Our street and the cul-de-sac can not handle traffic to the magnitude of a wedding venue. Some folks drove faster than 25 mph now. Our two grandsons and other neighborhood kids play in this area, especially in the evenings and on weekends! And with summer approaching, these kids will be outside more and more! This will make a dangerous situation for our children.
This is a peaceful area, not a commercially zoned part of town. We must keep this sort of behavior out of residential areas.
Over the past years, I have witnessed a lot of vehicles speeding coming and going! Not safe!
Please do not allow this special use permit in this residential neighborhood.

There are so many things to consider. Access for outdoor activities for the neighborhood children, noise and light population, traffic, and if an ABC license is approved then there is the opportunity for drunk driving/injury to people/children/property. So many factors, and I have only listed a few, are at issue with this proposed change in property zoning. I hope that our leadership will consider the laws but also how would they want to deal with the problems resulting from such approval.
