The feedback coming in highlights a genuine need for a more nuanced approach to how we handle technology throughout the school day. I am currently organizing these diverse perspectives to present a clearer picture of our community concerns to the district leadership.

Reaching this level of engagement confirms that many of us feel the current approach to phone usage no longer aligns with our daily school life. It is encouraging to see this conversation grow into a serious discussion about how we manage downtime in our hallways and lunchrooms.

Students should be able to use their phones during down time. Punish the kids who use it inappropriately. Taking phones away completely not only punishes the kids who use them appropriately but also doesn't teach the kids how to use their phones appropriately in society. Teaching them phone etiquette will serve them well in the years to come.

I fully support this petition because I believe phones and other electronic devises are a resource and tool that students should have access to during their own time in the school day. It is not a distraction to other students, and allows for us to maximize our overall efficiency. Many of my other reasons can be found on WPS Students Facebook page. ~Jordan-Tyler Miller

Kids will distract themselves with or without their phones. Instead, try keeping the passionate teachers who engage healthy debate and conversation in classrooms, and they'll be more willing to pay attention.

In today's society it seems almost unlogical to ban phones during school down time when in reality it is constantly used in the real world (moderdern society) for many purposes beside the normal texting and calling

Sometimes all of the computers are occupied during school, and our phones are a great way to continue with our class work. Last year we used to use our phones in shop all the time to log into google classroom, google docs, google slides, etc.

I was a student at Worcester Tech and I would stay after for clubs. At the clubs I use my phone to keep track of time and to text my ride. This rule makes things hard for anyone to stay after and to get a ride.

We, the students want to use electronics during lunch like last year. It was fun to use it.
