This morning, we received an email from the Office of Alumni Affairs stating that we (Princeton Seniors) are only permitted one guest wristband for Reunions. While we understand that there might be space limitations, we are disappointed by the drastic reduction in wristbands allotted for guests of the Class of 2015. Last year, Princeton seniors were allowed two guests; in prior years, Princeton seniors were permitted up to five guests.
This year, the restriction to just one guest per Senior has been imposed without explanation (indeed, there was an email sent exactly one year ago, on April 2, 2014 to both the Class of 2015 and the Class of 2014).However, since then, there has been further follow up or reminder about this dramatic change from previous years, except for today, less than two months from Reunions and graduation-- after our families and guests have already been invited and made travel plans to come celebrate with us.
Therefore, we call for the number of guest wristbands per Princeton Senior to be increased to at least 2, following last year's precedent.

I really thought this might just be ignored but the surge of people signing is actually kind of overwhelming and honestly it makes me feel like maybe they actually have to listen to us now. It just feels like such a relief knowing everyone else is just as frustrated about these plans being ruined for our families because honestly what is the point of a celebration if you have to choose between who gets to come.

The logistics of this are a mess. They should have communicated this back in the fall before anyone made travel arrangements.
My parents already booked their flights and hotel room months ago. How am I supposed to tell them only one can get in? This is so unfair.
Seriously? One wristband is a joke. What are we supposed to do with our families?
There have been a lot of changes recently that negatively impact Reunions. For example, tents are too frequently closed to alumni without a wristband for that tent. But have attended Princeton for undergrad and grad school, I have friends across many class years. Will I not be able to visit them when I'm at my 15th and they're at they're 10th or 5th? My particular situation is not very common, but similar problems arise in a number of ways. I wonder whether Alumni Affairs even notices, let alone cares.
If the idea is to exclude current undergraduates the wristbands could be unlimited for relatives with one for a non-relative

Hey friends, I spoke with the office of the alumni association and it turns out we received the following email a year ago: -- From: Princeton E-mail Distribution Date: Wednesday, April 2, 2014 Subject: Reunions update: Senior wristband allocation To: "[email protected]" , "[email protected]" More than 22,000 alumni and their family members are expected to return to campus for Princeton Reunions 2014, a three-day event that will begin Thursday, May 29, and run through Saturday, May 31. Reunions are for alumni, but participation by graduating seniors is highly valued and members of the senior class are invited to participate free of charge as guests of the University's Alumni Association. This year, members of the senior Class of 2014 may purchase wristbands for up to two guests at a cost of $60 per guest. This is a reduction from recent years, and beginning with Reunions 2015 we will need to reduce this number to one guest per senior. These reductions in the number of wristbands for guests of members of the senior class have been prompted by the dramatic increase in overall Reunions attendance in recent years. Wristbands are required only for Reunions activities in the headquarters tents after 5 p.m. All events before 5 p.m. (including Saturday’s P-rade) and evening events, such as the orchestra lawn concert and fireworks on Saturday evening, are free of charge, do not require wristbands, and are open to as many guests as seniors wish to invite. The Reunions guests wristband registration link will be emailed to the Class of 2014 on Friday, May 9. Registration will close on Tuesday, May 27. Wristbands are not available for purchase during Reunions. Senior/senior guest wristband pick-up will be May 29-31 in Frist 307.

Jon, Thanks so much for following up on this petition with the office of alumni! Honestly, I completely forgot that this email was ever sent, so I'm glad you were able to bring it back our attention. However, I think that's precisely the problem: the email was sent before the 2014 reunions, and while it was addressed to our class as well, there was no follow up, and I think most people forgot this email had ever been sent! This is really disappointing given that so many of our family members have already agreed to come. At the very least, we should be able to have two guests so that our parents can come!
