As 2019 HPHS/DFHS graduating seniors, we are asking that District 113 find a solution to accommodate people who are dear to us so they may attend our graduation.

There are lots of graduation parties planned that night and afterwards, but the ceremony is especially meaningful for us and to those who love and support us. They should not be excluded. We want our grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, stepparents and others at our graduation.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime event for us and we want to share and celebrate with our families. Please work out a solution so this may happen for our graduation. Thank you.

I have been reviewing the stories you shared about why this ceremony matters so much to your extended families. These personal accounts provide a clear picture of why our formal request to the district remains a priority. I am currently preparing a formal letter to the administration to ensure these perspectives are formally brought to their attention.

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me that our graduation represents a shared achievement for more than just the students. It is heartening to realize that so many people understand the importance of welcoming our entire families into the auditorium.

I want my grandparents to be able to come to my high school graduation. This is unfair.
