Hello fellow Palo Alto University Ph.D. and Psy.D. students. As you all know, we are working towards receiving our doctorate degree. What you may not know is that we are limited to 4 (maybe 5) graduation tickets.

Big family? Want to invite a close friend?

Well as of now, you can't.

As of now, PAU holds their graduation ceremony in a rather small building on Stanford's campus that can accommodate each graduating student to invite only 4 other individuals.

If you disagree with this policy and believe the students deserve MORE than 4 or 5 tickets, please sign below and have your voice be heard.

If you plan to graduate at any point, this could directly impact you. This petition applies to ALL PAU students.

Updates

January 29, 2019

I have been reviewing the graduate feedback regarding venue limitations and the difficulties this policy creates for families. The administration has received our formal request for a meeting to discuss alternative seating capacity. Please continue to monitor this space for news regarding their response.

January 29, 2019

The rapid growth of this initiative reflects the widespread consensus that our graduation capacity must increase. It is clear that our community values the presence of family and friends during this significant academic milestone.

This policy means that I cannot invite my entire nuclear family to my graduation. This will incredibly disappoint them. I really hope that PAU decision makers listen to our concerns and change this.

I hope PAU listens to our concerns and is able to make some movement on this matter. This accomplishment is a huge life milestone and should be thoughtfully considered.

While I understand that this is a smaller institution, small gestures like this indicate how much the school actually cares about their students.

I have four sets of parents and four siblings between my wife and I and half of our siblings are married and/or have children. This would definitely exceed the four ticket requirement.

I have a big family who all want to come to graduation to celebrate after a lot of hard work. We shouldn’t be restricted to just 4 tickets.

My family is traveling from South Africa for this. I desperately need 6 tickets.

It's kind of a big deal. People want to celebrate with us.

This seems like a wise and thoughtful proposal, I approve!
