We want the City of Oshawa to implement Traffic Calming Measures on our street. While we understand that Oxford is a very busy street, there are speed limits that are not being enforced. We witness drivers of all types of vehicles flying down our road at all times of the day and night, making it feel as if we live on a freeway.
We propose a 3 way stop sign intersection at the North entrance of Venus Crescent and Oxford Street. This will not allow drivers to get too fast heading south from Wentworth into our neighborhood. It will also stop drivers who are heading north and had to stop at the South Entrance. They will not be able to accelerate all the way up to the lights at Wentworth, making our community more at risk for a fatality.
Our neighborhood does NOT want it to be the death of a child, a teenager, a cyclist, a mom or dad, a husband or wife, a grandparent until there is real change on our street.
Ultimately our community wants to be proactive, responsible and safe- is that too much to ask for?
Let's work together as a community to achieve the safety we deserve in this neighborhood.

The cars and buses take advantage of the wide open road. Stop signs will slow them down.
Resident for 27 years, and sadly nothing regarding the speed limit has changed. Do my grandchildren have to pay the price??? what about my 80 year old mother??. We need the camera, the speed bumps and police radar as soon as possible, before some person dies or an innocent . Please stop ignoring our concerns and do something. Respectively
The stop signs are a great idea. Too many cars and buses fly down our street
The speed of many drivers is insane Stop signs will give them an obstacle and let us breathe
I don't let my sons play in the front yard because of the cars that speed down our road
Dangerous for small children . This road is too fast
I strongly agree with this petition. Placing stop signs at the north and south side of venus crescent would significantly reduce the speed some drivers use when driving in our neighborhood.
