We are collectively needing to correct the unsafe and disruptive traffic through our community. Specifically the intersections of S Central Ave./Concord and S Central Ave./Poplar St. in Lodi. As a homeowner and as a mother, pet owner and general member of our community, I am asking you to join me in a demand for change in our streets. I have been following social media posts regarding the dissatisfaction of fellow Lodi residents regarding speeding cars and illegal racing, self-rerouting semi-trucks through small streets, (Poplar is the street in this case), pedestrian casualties, lack of cross walk availability, etc. I personally live on what feels like a freeway, however there is a large school campus just at the end of the block where the speed limit says 25 miles per hour. People fly through at no less than 50 miles per hour all day and night long. There’s not enough enforcement and so I propose a solution: We need stop signs, speed humps or if possible, intersection round-a-bouts to force the slow of traffic. I would love the round-a-bouts personally, as it’s an opportunity for a neighborhood collaborative garden. Speed limit signs are not enough and it should be addressed before one of our children, pets or ourselves is tragically taken by an avoidable problem. This area has so many young children and animals that need our protection. Please join me in saying you’d like to see change in our street function and let’s get this under control.
