An Expression of Gratitude for the Appointment of Phil Apter to the Denman Island Community School

You probably get fewer complimentary letters than letters of complaint, so we wish to counter this tendency and thank you, particularly, for one of the faculty appointments that was made in September 2013 for the Denman Island Community School.
Phil Apter is a remarkable teacher, who has inspired the island’s children to a degree that not only do they look forward to his classes, but they bring home with them an infectious enthusiasm for the specifics of what they are learning. He is both sensitive and informed, nurturing students when required, and challenging them when needed. Learning with him seems to be a joyful yet intense experience, and in just a few short months, he has added immeasurably to the educational climate of our school.
Denman Island, and Denman School, are small, yet sensitive units in the greater School District 71, which is why every personnel decision is of such exquisite importance.
So again, thank you for Phil Apter, he presents to our children an example that we enjoy seeing them follow.

The positive change in the respect between students and staff has been remarkable. Students are also being respectful of each other and even themselves. Participation is 100% for the first time in the run, walk jog etc. Well done Phil!
Phil Apter has this unique ability to inspire kids to learn. Truly amazing person and a teacher. Our son, Kaizan, under Phil's guidance has been excelling in Math and other subjects and we are thrilled to have Phil teaching in our school.
Phil Apter has a true gift for teaching. He truly cares about each and every child and the children sense this. This ability to connect with the children opens the door to blissful learning experiences. His is a great communicator and my former home-schooled daughter is eager each and every day to learn from him. In short he is a treasure and should be valued as such. .
Phil is an excellent teacher and hiring him has been one of the best things that has happened at the Denman School in a very long time. He encourages, challenges, and fully supports his students and my son has been thrilled to have him as his teacher this year. We need him in the school and the children deserve to finish off their school year with him as their teacher. He has our full support and respect. He provides a stability to the school that is sorely lacking outside of his classroom. He provides the safe, nurturing, classroom environment that truly seeks to engage the children's Interests.
I have been fortunate to have parents of Phil's former student express unsolicited praise for his teaching skills. His ability to engage otherwise difficult students is amazing.

Magnificent, respectful, kind, loyal, intelligent...I could go on and on filling the page with all the great traits Phil has, but the best is how much my child loves to learn now. Getting home after a day of school, and having him start to share what he has learned that day, before he has even taken his jacket of, is to me worth more than I can even start to share. Phil makes my child light up, teaches him to enjoy learning and hold his teachings on all levels of life. A teacher like this is a gift like no other, my child have through Phil found a way to learn with joy and passion.
