We are petitioning Prince Georges County and Town of Upper Marlboro officials in regards to the defunding of our school's crossing guard. We are asking parents, guardians, grandparents, faculty/staff and friends of St. Mary of the Assumption who would like to see the position of crossing guard for our school reinstated to please sign this petition. Thank You.

One hundred people have signed this and Prince Georges County officials still think they can ignore us. This is just the beginning of the fight to force these bureaucrats to put our children's safety over their budget cuts.

My little brother attends this school and I have seen how hectic and dangerous is can be trying to exit the parking lot at dismissal. Please reinstate the crossing guard for the safety of the students, parents and loved ones.

We really need a crossing guard at the school. This school is on a hill; it is extremely difficult to see on- coming traffic. Most of us live in this county and pay taxes and providing the school a crossing guard is not too much for our safety and that of our kids.

My husband was very instrumental in getting the light on 202 for St. Mary's. Safety was his motivation. We always had a crossing guard there as it is such a dangerous spot. I can't believe that there is no one there to insure the safety of this school population.

Limited sightlines on this very busy road requires a traffic police presence at key school times for the saftey of the children and general public. I dont know why the funding would be cut for this.

Please bring back our crossing guard before some family with kids get hit by a speeding car and killed or seriously injured, just so County Council and County Executive can safe a few dollars. Is the lives of our citizens worth you saving a few bucks?

The guard is a necessity for safety reasons as the two lanes in front of the school has been made into only one and cars do not adhere to the speed limit. I must zoom across both lanes with my child in the car.

Every child resident of Prince George's County deserves a safe arrival and departure from their elementary school
