The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has officially confirmed that traffic cameras will be installed to enforce the one-way system on Victoria Grove. I am grateful to the 167 individuals who supported this effort to ensure the safety of our local children. We will continue to monitor the area …
We, the undersigned, request that the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea should install traffic cameras to deter drivers from purposely driving the wrong way on Victoria Grove through Launceston Place, in order to access the Victoria Road area or Gloucester Road. There is a school round the corner and these drivers are causing asignificant safety risk for the public and particularly children.
I have been in contact with local council representatives to discuss the risks posed by ongoing traffic violations in our neighborhood. The evidence collected from the comments on this petition continues to be instrumental in illustrating the daily danger faced by pedestrians and students. Further updates will follow once the council provides a formal response regarding potential enforcement measures.

I can understand the temptation since the alternative is a long way around. However, the actions of those drivers who ignore the signs seriously endanger the young, the old and anyone stepping off a pavement expecting the rules of this road to be observed.

Please stop these dangerous manoeuvres. Vehicles speed through there around a relatively blind corner towards the Thomas's Prep school. It has the potential for a very serious accident.

It was very rare to have someone go the wrong way down this street 10 years ago. I now see several vehicles per hour do this. It is dangerous, not least for the local school children.

A car drove the wrong way down the subject road a few months ago and narrowly missed my car. Because cycles can now drive the wrong way and the cycle lane is frequently blocked by parked cars/vans the area is a safety hazard as cycles come straight into the path of oncoming traffic.

I find this situation quite dangerous and have witnessed many drivers taking both No Entry short cuts on numerous occasions. Twice I have confronted very aggressive drivers and refused to back up in their favour. Motor bikes also are regular offenders.

I am totally behind this petition. For years Victoria Grove residents have complained about this abuse of the one way system. Sadly it is on the increase with a significant number of drivers now driving up the other end of Victoria Grove. So, both one way systems are not being adhered to. The police have tried to help but do not have the resources.

We need to keep this area safe for our children. I have 4 who walk around the area and the change of use will definitely put them at risk.
