Request for Examination-Only (MEX) Opportunity for COMP2211 – Analysis of Algorithms (2024/25 Cohort)
We are requesting that The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus – Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Computing consider offering an Examination-Only (MEX) opportunity for COMP2211 – Analysis of Algorithms for the 2024/25 cohort.
Following the recent release of final grades, approximately 65% of the class did not pass the course. Since COMP2211 is a core prerequisite for several upper-level courses and degree programmes, many students now face academic delays or ineligibility for progression or graduation.
By signing this petition, you are expressing support for the department to offer a MEX (Exam-Only option) during the Summer 2025 semester, giving students a fair second chance to demonstrate competency without retaking the entire course.

The department needs to see how many of us are struggling here. mex is the only way forward
this course destroyed my gpa. we really need that mex option to get back on track
65% failure rate is insane. something is clearly wrong with how the course is being structured.
PLEASE give us the mex. i cant afford to stay an extra year just for this one class
COMP2211 was brutal. a second chance is the only fair way to handle this
