The amendment is finally being reviewed and changed to allow for the case by case fairness we fought for. Seeing justice for the people whose livelihoods were wrongly stripped away means everything to me. We have achieved what they said was impossible.

Seeing two hundred and fifty signatures hits home because I know how many of these people are just like my brother who lost his career over a single lapse in judgment. I never expected this many people to understand why these broad strokes are destroying good lives.

Seeing this grow makes me think of my brother and everyone else whose career ended because of a single lapse in judgment. It feels surreal to see so many people acknowledge that the current system ignores the nuance of these situations. This reach is a testament to the fact that people are finally ready to talk about true fairness.

Same issue. Convicted in 1990. Banned in 93? 25yrs later. No other issues,and married to the same women who helped, and believed in me. I agree violent offenders should have gun rights taken away for a period. Wes should be able to be restored after time as long as there are no repeat of same offence.
For the time being I have been on active duty serving in the US Air Force. Myself as well as my command have just learned I cannot have or be around firearms. This amendment will cost me a my AF career.
This law also disarms the victim whose resistance to a beating may have been charged as well as taking part in domestic violence by well intending prosecutors and plead no contest to avoid legal fees.
The Lautenberg Amendment is unconstitutional and places a lifelong ban on a misdemenor with no process to reatore God given rights. While almost all felons have the process availible to restore rights to them.
in 2001 I plead guilty to a misdemeanor DV to stay out of jail and pay a fine, considering the charges were bogus I was young and scared. I had absolutely no idea that pleading guilty to a misdemeanor would result in loosing a constitutional right. The lautenberg amendment is an illegal amendment and needs repealed.
Hitting somebody has nothing to do with firearms
I wanted to join military but this amendment is preventing me from joining theres no waivers because of this amendment. I'm 24 and that charge was when I was 14 and 17, I grew up.

A lifetime ban for a misdemeanor is wrong! We don't lose any of our other rights for a misdemeanor. I understand its purpose but it needs to be repealed or fixed. I would be fine with a 5 year ban and get our right back after 5 years of no further charges but something needs to be done.
