We the citizens of Astoria, who utilize Astoria Heights Park, located at 30th road between 45th and 46th streets, petition Councilman Peter F. Vallone, Jr., the Parks Department and Community Board 1 to renovate the park. Astoria Heights Playground is in deep disrepair. Cleanliness, safety, and age appropriate play equipment are needed to make this park a space that supports the health of the community. More specifically, a new retaining wall to prevent wash outs, gates to prevent younger children from running out into the street, a new bathroom, up to date and age appropriate play equipment and an overall cleaner environment are needed. Our children should not need to run over broken glass each day, see teenagers having sex in bathrooms or risk injury due to traffic or old equipment. We demand that the Councilman, Parks Department and Community Board 1 allocate the funds needed to make Astoria Heights Park a place we can all love to come to, that is safe, clean, and fun.
