The town council has officially voted to rename the park in honor of John Aliberti. It is deeply moving to see his legacy anchored to the place he loved so well. We have ensured that his presence in our community remains a permanent part of our local landscape.

He passed at the age of 98 on Saturday the 19th of March, 2022.
He spend many hours at the park only an eighth of a mile from his home on 5th street.
Let us rename the park in his honor.

John was a legend in this town. Really sad he is gone but this would be a perfect way to keep his memory alive.
I remember seeing him at the park every single day growing up. He was such a sweet guy.

As a fellow New Yorker who comes from an Italian family transplanted to NY directly from Italy and because I knew Papa from most my life this is very important to me. He was a great man and it would mean so much to have his little piece of heaven on earth named after him
