I am writing a petition to end the tenancy of the Wight family who resides at 1535 Birchmount Road. On the Thanksgiving weekend of 2011 Daniel Wight was accused of sexually assaulting a 6 year old girl in the building he resides at (1535 Birchmount Road). The6 year old victim claimed that Daniel was taking out the garbage when he saw her and trapped her under a stairwell in the building. This is where he allegedly pinned her in the corner and pulled her pants down, touched her and then licked his fingers. The little girl got away and ran and told her mother. Daniel was arrested and went to trial. Unfortunately, due to lack of evidence, and insufficient DNA findings Mr Daniel Wight was released and acquitted of all charges. He was sent to a juvenile detention center for approximately 6 months while he awaited his trial. It is claimed that he also received counselling during his stay to aid in curing his sexual desires. He was eventually allowed back into the building and continues to reside with his parents to this date. The violated little girl lived on the same floor as Mr. Wight and had to see him every day and live with the fear of a sexual predator down the hallway. The family feared for her safety and have since moved out of the building.

On Saturday March 8th 2014 Daniel Wight struck again. This time he attacked an 11 year old female in Burlington. It is alleged that Mr. Wight went to that particular families residence in the hopes of selling them a new hot water contract. The mother declined the idea of switching companies, and closed the door. She left a short while later to run errands leaving the young child home alone. Daniel must have been watching, once the mother left Daniel let himself into her unlocked home. This is when he grabbed the little girl, covered her mouth and asked if her parents were home. He told her if she doesn’t scream he won’t hurt her. This brave little girl managed to get away and run to a neighbour’s house and call police. Daniel Wight, 19, of Toronto, is CHARGED with breaking, entering and committing assault, forcible confinement, and uttering threats. This court case is still pending.

Three months later he RETURNED to 1535 Birchmount road with his parents. 1535 Birchmount road is surrounded by 3 other buildings which share a community backyard play area. An elementary school, Montessori school and High School are also in close proximity to where Mr. White now resides. Along with several parks, dance studio and community center. . On June 20th 2014 around 7:30 pm there were, like always, children outback playing, having a bbq and having fun; that’s when Daniel Wight and his Mother were lurking by their van, watching the kids play. About 7-10 fathers, mothers, uncles and aunts started yelling over to him that he isn't welcome here and they should move. Their children are UNSAFE. It is claimed that Mr. Wights mother started yelling back to one of the fathers stating that she wished it was his child that the alleged assault happened to. At around 1:30 am, the same day as the shouting incident, a gentleman was arrested and charged for making his voice heard. Daniel was verbally berated, but was never physically assulted by this now charged individual. The Wight family made FALSE accusations to the Toronto Police. There were about 10 witnesses that will support this gentleman when court comes.

Mr. Wights family also has a trailer located in Peterborough. It was brought to my attention by a family member of the Wight family that Daniel Wight is banned from that property too due to allegations of a sexual nature that was reported to the trailer park several years ago. Ms Kelly Wight and Mr. Dan Wight visit their trailer every weekend. Since Daniel is banned he is left home alone every weekend and is under the supervision of himself.

All of the children who are old enough to understand are fearful of playing outside. The children who are too young to understand are under the strict watch of their parents and fellow neighbours. No child and or parent should have to live in fear of an innocent child being victimized. Please sign this petition in hope to shed some light to the police and landlord of 1535 and 1545 Birchmount road to have this family; or Daniel Wight, removed from the premises. We need to secure our children’s safety and this is a HUGE step in the RIGHT direction.
