The board has officially confirmed the change in leadership we requested. It has been an exhausting road to get here but I am relieved that we finally reached this outcome. We will stay focused on the classroom now to ensure things actually improve for the students.
We the people of Mecklenburg County Virginia request the removal of Dr. James Thornton, Superintendent of Mecklenburg county Schools, as we feel that Dr. Thornton is not an asset to our school system nor has he the best interest for our children's education. We also feel that there may be a conflict of interest due to holdings and investments by Dr. Thornton and his wife.
The traction this is gaining is exhausting but it proves that so many of you have reached a breaking point. I am tired of the silence and I know you feel the same way.

Absolutely ridiculous that school board members gave their approval to extend his contract after the destruction of Meckenburg County Schools. Not only does Dr. Thornton need to be removed each of the board members that voted to extend his contract need to go also. They have proven that they do not have the students' best interests at heart.

He has been a disaster for this district. My kids deserve better than what he is giving them.

Glad to see people finally speaking up about this mess. The board needs to open their eyes and fire him already.
