Honorable Judge Bartlett,

We the people, friends, family and co-workers of Arin Staples, have formed this petition to request you to reconsider your decision of her 60 day jail sentence. Arin Staples has a clean record, has an excellent teaching record and is an overall outstanding citizen. Arin takes full responsibility for her mistake which has already immensely impacted her life. Arin befriended Dominique Myrick; a fellow coworker at Holmes Middle School, who was employed by The Covington Public School System. Myrick was a drug pusher/dealer, who pressured Arin into the drug world. Myrick is working with the DEA to achieve a lesser sentence.

Arin is a mother of 2 small children, whose lives will drastically be changed due to the absence of their mother. Because of these traumatizing events, we do not feel this punishment fits the crime of a first time offender. Arin Staples does not deserve this harsh punishment. We ask that you reconsider your decision, have a change of heart and relinquish her from the 60 day jail sentence.

The school system failed her too. Everyone knows who the real problem was and it wasnt Arin.

This is just wrong. She has 2 babies at home who need her. A first time offender should get probation not jail time.

TOTAL B.S. She made a bad choice but 60 days is extreme. Let her be with her kids.

I know Arin and she is a good person who got mixed up with the wrong crowd. She doesnt belong behind bars.

Judge Bartlett needs to stop and think about those children. Sending a teacher to jail over this is just punishing the kids the most.

Let's not forget that the DEA set up the location and needs to be put on blast as well.
