Regina Evans plead guilty and accepted responsibility for mishandling funds from a government grant. She has been incarcerated for nine months now awaiting sentencing on December 9, 2013, and she is in poor physical health. She has been a pillar in the community; a devout and active member of her church; a dedicated and well-respected police officer; a loving mother and a cherished friend; and she has never once been in trouble in her entire life prior to this incident. I couldn't list all the good things she's done in her life because this petition is limited to 1,000 words. I pray the court will temper justice with mercy on December 9th and exercise its discretionary authority by imposing a sentence of time served and releasing Regina to be home with her loved ones. She poses no threat to society and I think she's suffered enough. Please show your support in this matter by signing the petition below.

The petition reached 500 signatures today. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the court that incorporates these figures to demonstrate the scale of community interest in Regina's case.

She is a great person and I have known her for many years prior to her career in law enforcement ! Her talents and hard work were inspirational to many ... I know she could better serve us all in society versus further incarceration !!!

Regina has accepted fault, I know Regina and she has a kind heart and used poor judgment. Regina has helped many people. Regina's son misses her immensely, he is suffering, please give him the opportunity to be with his mother soon.

I respectfully ask that the legal system not treat this lady like a common criminal when handing down her sentence. Regina has done so much for all whose life she has touched. She's a true giver and a person who goes out of her way to help others. Please let her come home to be with her family.

I've known Regina for over 25yrs. Regina greatest asset is her ability to care for and give back to the community. Please grant her leniency on behalf of the hundreds of people she has extended help to regain footing in today's society.

I feel that after 9 months of incarceration,Regina understands the responsibility she had to the community as well as her family. Please allow her to be released based on time served, So that she can get the proper health care from her physician, as well as be untied with her family.

When I first met Regina Evans, I said to myself "we need more people like her in our community". She's kind, loving & has a heart for for the needs of others. Not having her physically in our presence has created a void in our community.

Leniency for Regina says it all. Before this incident she was always willing to help others. She was diligent and through with her career and responsibilities. She deserves another chance.
